Financial Statements
Please read these general comments that apply to the financial statements below:
- Salaries listed are paid to the Haitian staff on site at the Orphanage. It includes the salary of the Haiti born Director, Lefort Jean-Louis who attended college at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Upon graduation, he returned to Haiti and started the Orphanage in 2000 and has been Director there ever since.
- No salaries or wages are paid to any United States based individuals. All work performed in the United States is done by a small number of hard working volunteers. Therefore, almost all of the contributions made to the Orphanage or Foundation are used to directly benefit the children of the Orphanage or the over 150 students who come on campus each weekday for school.
- Prior to the January 12, 2010 earthquake, 115 boys and 35 girls resided on the campus. That was the capacity for the existing campus structures at that time. Because we have been supporting an operating orphanage since 2000, we agreed to support leasing an additional building to take in some of the newly orphaned from Port-au-Prince. At present, there are almost 250 children living at the orphanage. However, the need to take care of more orphans is ever present. Consequently, we hope to raise funds to add additional dorms for additional residents. But along with this will be the need to have a larger monthly revenue stream to support the expanded operational costs. Please see Ways To Help.
We also invite you to read more about longer range plans. The Strategic Direction and Strategic Aims should demonstrate this organization is well run and worthy of your contributions.
We firmly believe that To Whom Much Is Given, Much Is Expected. Please help the children! Thank You!
