Maison Fortuné Orphanage Foundation's Strategic Direction
The mission of the Foundation is to support the Maison Fortuné Orphanage in Hinche, Haiti. The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) IRS-approved charity, is committed to the long-term viability of the orphanage through financial support, ensuring capital facility longevity, outreach to the public, encouraging visits, promoting child-sponsorship, and sharing information about the orphanage.
The Foundation, composed of four churches (St Thérèse, Prince of Peace, St. Stephen Martyr, and St Mark) and Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, all within the South Hampton Roads region of Virginia, has established Strategic Aims for the long-term growth and continuity of the orphanage.
The Strategic Aims have been developed by the Board of Directors to ensure the long-term survivability of the orphanage, the maintenance of its equipment, the overall development of the students, and the long-term retention of the staff, starting in the 2009 calendar year. It is understood that this plan will be reviewed and revised on a continuing basis, and that it will serve as a basis for the future development of specialized plans by the local director for specific facets of orphanage operations.
These Strategic Aims will guide the Board’s decision-making and will be used when operational concerns or policy changes are considered. These aims should be consulted first if the Board elects to schedule discussions, that will make strategic changes in the direction the orphanage is headed. These reviews can be based upon everything from economic realities to a natural disaster.
