Raises over $14,000 for Orphanage

Rose & Womble Realty agents and staff turned out in full force for a “Bowling for Haiti” event in March. Nine teams bowled, and over 200 people participated by soliciting sponsorships and making personal donations. The result: $14,860 for the Maison Fortune Orphanage in Haiti. The funds were collected by the Rose & Womble Foundation, a tax-exempt, 501(C)(3) non-profit organization sponsored by Rose & Womble Realty Company. The Foundation is a channel for the charitable and community service energies of the company.  One hundred percent of the money collected will go to the Maison Fortune Orphanage Foundation (www.mfofoundation.org).  The orphanage was founded in 2000 by Lefort Jean-Louis, a native of Haiti, who attended Virginia Tech. Prior to the earthquake Maison Fortune, which is located in Hinche, was home to 150 children. Since the disaster refugees from Port-au-Prince have been arriving daily, and now total almost 250.

This is just one way that Rose & Womble Realty Company is making a difference.  The firm’s community relations program, Rose & Womble CARES: Taking Action in our Community, was established in 2003.  Since the program’s launch, Rose & Womble has given back to the Hampton Roads community and beyond by means of resources as well as time.  Every year 4 scholarships are awarded to deserving high school seniors from the area.
