Scholarships Established for
MFO Residents

We are pleased to announce that two scholarships have been established for the students at Maison Fortuné Orphanage. Steven Walker and his wife Debbie have agreed to provide $1,000 per year to be used for two $500 scholarships. The first would be for the McKenna Technical Institute and be called the William C. O'Rourke Memorial Scholarship in honor of Debbie's father, who was a tradesman in Pittsburgh. The second would be for a child who is interested in government service to attend University. That scholarship will be called the James H. Walker Memorial Scholarship in honor of Steve’s father, who was a long-time civil servant. In the event that no interested or qualified young person is found, the funds are to be deposited into the Endowment Fund.

Steven made his first trip to the orphanage in November of 2010 and has been involved behind the scenes since. On behalf of the children, the staff and Jean Louis, we thank Steve and Debbie for their generosity and support.
