Orphanage to Expand Capacity

January 19, 2010

In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12th, 2010, the Maison Fortune Orphanage has elected to expand the orphanage’s capacity to support displaced children from the quake zone.  This shelter will allow a period of stabilization in their lives until conditions improve in the face of this devastation. This expansion would further allow for the additional hiring of local citizens further stabilizing the economy and region.

The Foundation has committed to assist raising funds for this expansion through several channels including broadening our scope of communications and expanding our fund-raising and sponsorship appeals.

In coordination with the MFO Director and Board, we have developed a Strategic Expansion Plan. The goals outlined in the plan include, but are not limited to:

  • Increasing facility capacity and identify additional buildings to lease.
  • Identifying and hire appropriate additional staff to support additional children.
  • Developing and executing a sub-plan, in coordination with the Orphanage Director and Board, to feed, house and educate additional children for up to a year.
