We Need Your Help

Summer, 2010

One of the residents at the orphanage has completed his secondary school work and is ready for university studies.  Since the Haiti university system was badly damaged in the January earthquake, we would like to bring him here to study at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, where he has been accepted for admission, provided we can guarantee his tuition cost (about $13,000).

The individual has agreed to return to the orphanage upon his graduation and work there as a member of the management staff.  For this reason, he plans to major in business.  If successful, this would be a blessing to Jean-Louis as the campus continues to grow.

Why don't we take the funds from donations to the operating budget?  We are concerned that the cost of operations has increased over $100,000 a year because we have taken in so many new orphans from the Port-au-Prince area.  Our responsibility is to all the children and not just one so we must insure the operating funds are used for maintaining operations.

If you live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and would like to house this student during part or all of his time at Old Dominion, or if you can help financially, please contact Art Mowbray at helpthechildren@mfofoundation.org or call 757-777-7626.

Thanks for considering these requests and thank you so much for all you do to help us help the children of Haiti.
