Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School
In response to the recent earthquake in Haiti, the student body of Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School in Virginia Beach pledged to raise $5000 in five days - "5000 in 5" - for the children at Maison Fortuné Orphanage. By the end of the week, the entire BSCHS community - faculty, staff, families, and, especially, the students responded, far surpassing their goal. The fact that this was student-generated was the reason for the great success, according to Junior, Brent H. Campus Minister, Elaine Lyons, noted that she had never seen such an outpouring of support in her 12 years at the school. Mr. Dennis Price, principal, said he was very proud of what the students had accomplished.

On February 10, 2010, the students presented the check for $9,000 to Art Mowbray, Maison Fortuné Orphanage Foundation Executive Director. He thanked the students for their efforts and gratefully accepted their check on behalf of the children and staff at the orphanage. Pictured with Mr. Mowbray from left to right, are students Patrick, Brent, Matt and Kaitlyn. All are members of the school's Haiti Club. Mrs. Holly Smith is the Club Moderator.
