Making a Difference in the Life of a Child.

Saint Matthew's Catholic School

Recently, the students at Saint Matthew's School raised $4,575.00 for the children at Maison Fortuné Orphanage.  This came from the schools annual dress down day.  The students made a donation and an appointment to wear something other than their school uniform.  It was really quite impressive.  “The students knew who would benefit from the donations and they were really very generous”, said principal Barbara White.

The students also raised another $100.00 by building a snowman out of cotton balls.  The children would come into the office and for 25 cents, they would receive a cotton ball.  They would go into hall and place the cotton ball on the snowman outline on the wall.    The students liked it because of the freedom to place it high or low or wherever they wanted to place the cotton ball.  This fund raiser was conducted until the snowman was completed.  As you can see from the picture, the students did a wonderful job of building the cool guy.

An additional fund raiser is planned in the near future.  Please stay tuned .  Details will be posted here as they become available.  St. Matthews Catholic School is located at 3316 Sandra Lane in Virginia Beach, VA.  The school, for preschoolers age 3 up to 8th grade, was one of the original founders of the Foundation to support Maison Fortuné Orphanage in Hinche, Haiti.
